In 2005, and at the age of 16, Natalie published her first book. Called Feathers and Eggshells, the work documented the fauna of Hampstead Heath, and was Natalie’s first foray into natural history while studying at St Paul’s Girls’ School in London.
Publishing a book at such a young age was merely a sign of things to come for Natalie. Since then she has gone on to receive a double first in Biological Natural Sciences from St John’s College, Cambridge (rearing moths and butterflies in her student room and dabbling in home cheese-making) a first in her masters in History and Philosophy of Science, and last year completed her PhD in Zoology. She has contributed to a wide range of academic journals, produced a TEDx talk on ‘monstrosity’, and contributed a chapter to New Cultures of Natural History, soon to be published by Cambridge University Press.
Natalie has tutored students in Sciences from age 11 to those completing university finals and adult learners returning for further qualifications. She has worked with a wide range of students, from those who want to secure good marks in upcoming exams, to those wanting to explore areas well beyond their current educational level and indulge their excitement in science.
Natalie tutored my twin 9-year-old boys and 15-year-old daughter for one year. She was excellent. Thanks to her, the boys made remarkable progress in all aspects of their school work. She taught them all the core Sciences and helped them gain intellectual confidence and curiosity. During the sessions with my daughter Natalie focused on teaching her how to write a proper scientific essay. My daughter really enjoyed their lessons, Natalie helped her bring her predicted grade from B to A.
Mother of three students, London
Natalie has helped my son gain confidence in preparing for Biology exams. She is patient and methodical, and clearly has a great ability to teach the subject. Natalie has great knowledge of the subject (far beyond what is required at school) and therefore makes her sessions interesting and enjoyable for the student. We are very grateful to Natalie for the amount of work she has put in our son. And the work has paid off, N has successfully passed his A-level exams and got into one of the top universities. I highly recommend Natalie, she is a true professional.
