James is one of our most academically gifted tutors. Beginning his academic career at Hills Road Sixth Form college in Cambridge, where he attained A*s in English, History and Mathematics and AS in Further Mathematics and Music at A-Level, he went on to study History at Cambridge University. He graduated with a First-class degree, before continuing to study a Masters degree in Political Thought.
Given the diverse subjects that James studied both at school and university, he is able to help pupils with a wide range of academic disciplines. As well as providing tuition in History, Politics, English, German and Mathematics, James also advises prospective students on Oxbridge entry, exam technique, and essay-writing skills. Additionally he is available to provide interview preparation for pupils preparing for Oxbridge and other university admissions.
“He was absolutely wonderful and Peter (our son) tells me he is convinced that he was the tutor who made the crucial difference which helped him to get in to Cambridge. He seemed to anticipate exactly what questions and tests were likely to be requested. He helped with our son's confidence which was in shreds at the time. So I would give him more than 10/10 for content, attitude and flexibility.”

“I was and remain extremely impressed by James's professional attitude to his work. He was creative, motivational, encouraging and courteous at every opportunity. James is undoubtedly a very talented teacher and I doubt my son would have achieved success without his help. James has also been very helpful in advising and reassuring my daughter in her academic career. He has provided invaluable advice for which he has never charged.
In my opinion James is a very talented, creative, motivational, inspiring and patient young teacher whom I cannot recommend too highly. I would not hesitate in rating James 10/10 in the attributes he contributes to all aspects of teaching.”
