FAQ

How long should my child’s English course be in order to see a visible difference in ability?

We recommend no less than three weeks, with four to six weeks being ideal, as this would allow your child to gradually adapt to the new environment, overcome the language barrier and begin speaking English.

Where will my child live during the course?

For summer vacation programmes children usually live in the boarding schools. The school and residence buildings are located on the school grounds, along with sporting facilities, theatre facilities, and any other buildings. Children aged 14 and over can live with host families, while the youngest (three to nine years old) can come with their parents, who will take them to classes every day.

How will my child fly to England by him/herself and who will meet him/her?

Children over the age of 6 can fly to England on their own, without their parents (escorted by their airline’s member of staff). This service is offered upon the purchase of an airplane ticket. At the airport, the airline staff will hand your child over to the summer camp staff or to our driver, who will then take your child to the summer school. If you are worried whether your child has safely arrived, you can always call the UK Study Centre and we will contact the driver or summer school to check.

What to do if your child is ill or has other problems?

We provide our students with UK SIM-cards for ease of contact. In case any problems arise, please contact your consultant at the UK Study Centre and we will deal with it right away.

What should my child bring?

For a two to three week trip to England you will usually need the following:

  • A big suitcase
  • Backpack
  • Jeans
  • Sweaters
  • Windbreaker
  • Track suit
  • Sneakers
  • Indoor slippers
  • T-shirts
  • Socks and underwear
  • A hat (a cap or panama hat)
  • Shorts
  • Swimsuit/swimming trunks
  • A big towel
  • A set of nice clothes for the disco
  • Sunscreen
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Any medication your child requires due to chronic illness
  • Some cheap souvenirs for new friends (key chains, post cards)
  • Anglo-Russian dictionary
  • Mobile phone

If your child does sports seriously, you may bring your own sports equipment and clothes. Roller blades are not recommended due to the high risk of injury.

The school will usually provide bedding, but it is recommended you bring a big and a medium sized towel.

How much do children’s language programmes cost?

Prices range from £700 to £1200 per week and include tuition, accommodation, food, cultural activities, sport.
